Rumah Solehah started as a shelter for women diagnosed with HIV in 1998 under the Persatuan Perubatan Islam Malaysia in partnership with Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (STD/AIDS sect). They are also part of the Gabungan Majlis Aids Malaysi.
In early year 2000, they started taking in children of HIV victims who needed a place to live.
